Most of our long term clients are expatriates, NGO teams, companies and project crews. Some need a car while they settle into the city. Others, however, need dependable transport for a contract that runs for several months. In both cases, a monthly rate works out cheaper per day than daily hire.
You can drive yourself or hire the car with a driver. Either way, you sign one standard contract for the whole period. After that, we deliver the car to you or you collect it, usually within a few hours.
Monthly Car Rental Prices in Nairobi
Our monthly car rental rates in Nairobi depend on the type of car and on who drives it. Each price below covers one full month within Nairobi. However, fuel is not included in any of them.
A. Saloon car: KES 90,000 a month on self drive, or KES 120,000 with a driver.
B. MPV van: KES 150,000 a month on self drive, or KES 180,000 with a driver.
C. Crossover: KES 150,000 a month on self drive, or KES 180,000 with a driver.
D. Luxury MPV van: KES 250,000 a month on self drive, or KES 280,000 with a driver.
E. Full size SUV: KES 300,000 a month on self drive, or KES 350,000 with a driver.
F. Luxury SUV: KES 600,000 a month on self drive, or KES 650,000 with a driver.

What Is Included in Your Monthly Hire
Every monthly hire comes with a clean, well maintained car and one standard contract for the full period. In addition, all our self drive cars carry comprehensive insurance. That policy covers the car and other people involved in an accident. However, it does not cover you personally as the driver. We therefore recommend personal accident cover, especially for longer hires.
You can also add extra protection when you book. Two options matter most for monthly hire:
- Theft Protection Insurance (TPI) limits your liability to 10% of the car’s value if someone steals it.
- Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) limits your share of accident repairs to the first 10% of the car’s value.
If the car breaks down or has an accident, we either repair it quickly or replace it. Meanwhile, all repairs go through a Bamm Tours approved garage. Fuel is the one running cost you always cover yourself.
Self Drive or With a Driver
Self drive suits clients who know Nairobi roads and want full control of their time. For example, many expatriates who drive every day choose this option. You need a valid driving licence. In addition, you take responsibility for the car throughout the hire.
On the other hand, a car with a driver suits companies and NGO teams. Your staff simply travel while the driver handles traffic, parking and fuel stops. Furthermore, the insurance excess usually sits with us rather than with you. A driver adds KES 30,000 to KES 50,000 a month to the rate.

Many companies ask whether they should rent long term or lease. At Bamm Tours, both work the same way. They use the same monthly rates, the same contract and the same one month minimum. Long Term Car Rental Outside Nairobi
The monthly rates above apply within Nairobi. However, we also arrange long term hire through our branches in Mombasa, Diani, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu and Nanyuki. Running costs differ from town to town, so we quote these hires on request. Just tell us where the car will be based.
We can also hand the car over at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) when you land. As a result, you can drive straight from the airport to your home or office.
